Junior Ryder Cup

The 2010 Junior Ryder Cup will be conducted Sept. 27-28 at Gleneagles, Scotland.
The United States Junior Ryder Cup Team cruised to victory at the 2008 Junior Ryder Cup, 22 to 2, at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky. It was the first time the U.S. Team won in dominant fashion, building on its opening-day success in the foursome and mixed four-ball matches, winning 11 of the 12 singles matches, and earning a halve in the final match.
The Junior Ryder Cup was first played in 1995, when a series of exhibition matches were conducted matching the Central New York PGA Section-area juniors against 12 leading European junior players. The Europeans, age 15 and younger, toured three New York courses and dominated all of the matches. No results were published. The event was contested again prior to the 1997 Ryder Cup in Sotogrande, Spain. The U.S. won, 7-5. In 1999, Europe returned to face the U.S. juniors, and dominated in the Boston area by a 10½-to-1½ margin. This marked the first of three-straight outright Junior Ryder Cup victories for the Europeans.
