Junior Ryder Cup

An elite group of junior golfers representing seven states will host their European counterparts in the 8th Junior Ryder Cup, Sept. 24-25, at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club.
The United States Team, comprised of six boys and six girls who are U.S. citizens and graduating high school in 2013, or younger, will face a European squad of junior golfers in the biennial competition.
PGA Past President Roger Warren of Kiawah Island, S.C., will Captain the U.S. Team that is attempting to capture the Junior Ryder Cup for a third consecutive time.

In 2010, the United States Junior Ryder Cup team won its second consecutive trophy with a narrow 13 1/2 to 10 1/2 finish at Gleneagles Resort in Perthshire, Scotland. In 2008, the United States Junior Ryder Cup Team cruised to its second overall Junior Ryder Cup victory, 22-2, at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky. The United States’ only other victory in this event came in 1997, when it was known as the Junior Match and was not a PGA of America-sanctioned event.
