Jim White of Lincoln Neb., played a flawless final round of golf, turning in a 5-under-par 67 under perfect weather conditions, Oct. 24, at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., to capture the 16th Callaway Golf PGA Senior Club Professional Championship and break the 72-hole record.

White was tied for the lead early and gained the solo lead on the back nine, finishing at 14-under-par 274, a stroke better than the previous standard set in 2000 by two-time champion Ed Sabo of Tequesta, Fla., who won in both 2000 and 2001.

White began the final round of play in a third-place tie at 9-under-par 207, and came out of the gate strong with a birdie on the par-5, 520-yard hole No. 1. He then bogeyed hole No. 2, but gained momentum after carding consecutive birdies on holes Nos. 4 and 5.

Finishing in second place at 277 was Bob Ford of Jupiter, Fla. Ford began the final round in a tie for third place with White and remained in a tie for first place until hole No. 15, where White birdied and Ford bogeyed.

Third round leaders, Mick Soli of San Carlos, Calif., and Bill Schumaker of Columbia City, Ind., both finished the final round at 2-over-par 74 in a tie for third place with Don Reese of Freeport Fla., and Butch Sheehan of Rancho Mirage, Calif., at 8-under-par 280.

Jay Friedman of Scottsdale, Ariz., Paul Parajeckas of Woburn, Mass., Bill Spannuth of Loganville, Ga., and Scott Bess of Columbia, Mo., won a playoff for the 32nd, 33rd, 34th and 35th spots to earn a berth in the 2005 Senior PGA Championship at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pa.
