After bypassing the tournament in 1963,his first year of eligibility, the legendary Sam Snead made his first appearance in the PGA Seniors' Championship a memorable one.For the first time, the tournament was played at the new PGA National GC, currently known as BallenIsles CC of JDM, in Palm Beach Gardens.Snead opened with an eagle on the first hole of the East Course and was never caught,posting a 9-under-par 279 for his first of a record six PGA Seniors' Championship victories.
